Can wines be deposited in banks just like money? Will their value be added after years? Some business person believe so, like Cai Mulin, board chairman of Taiwan Tibacco&Liquor Cooperation. He started a bank of wines recently in Jiayi, Taiwan.
According to Cai, consumers can easily open accounts, deposit wines or withdraw them in any branch in Taiwan that is convient to them. Besides, the accounts can be also checked constantly through the internet.
The bank is based on the old saying that “wines get better with age”. The longer one stores the wine, the more valuable it will become. In the “exchequers”, each bottom of wine has its own registered number so that it can be easily identified.
The bank’s biggest wine supplier is Jiayi Brewery, which is famous for its Gaoliang spirit.
