Chinese companies take the lion’s share of the glory at the annual tech startup event.
On August 29th the winners of Red Herring’s 100 Asia Awards were announced in Hong Kong. The Red Herring 100 Asia event, now in its third year, brings together entrepreneurs, corporate strategists, and investors from across the Asia Pacific region for networking and discussions, and the awards are given to the most innovative startups of the previous year.
This year China was way out in front, with 37 Chinese companies selected as winners. Top startups included streaming video ad network CTS, fabless chipmaker Beken, and diagnostic testing company Beijing Chemclin Biotech. The 100 winners and 100 finalists were chosen from more than 600 applicants in 16 countries, including India, Japan, Singapore, Korea, Australia, and Vietnam. Red Herring journalists judged companies based on financial performance, technology innovation, management team, and business strategy.
