ShowcaseWe’ve previously reported on how cities have served as both a physical platform and a data source for mobile apps. Now there’s a contest to find digital solutions for cities where the winner will get to implement their system with full municipal support.

Living Labs Global helps cities and municipalities through sharing mobile and wireless services they research across the world. As part of this effort, they recently launched the Showcase Awards, in which nine cities have challenged companies and organizations to develop solutions to problems as varied as reducing water consumption in Oeiras, Portugal, to creating digital tools to assist tourists in Taipei, Taiwan.

Entries are due December 1st, 2009, and more information on the competition can be found at Living Labs Global site. We also recently interviewed the Managing Director of Living Labs Global, Sascha Haselmayer, in the Mobile Trendpool (subscription required).
