Augmented reality (AR) uses mediums like mobile phones and other handheld devices to add another dimension of information to reality. The last year has seen dramatic growth in the usage of AR in gaming and the Internet. In the same period, smartphones like the iPhone 3GS and Android-based G1 mobile have not only developed the necessary hardware and software for AR (high resolution visual input, location and direction sensing, and enough processing power), but they have also become affordable, spurring innovation in AR mobile applications. A host of mobile apps are proving how useful the technology can be in daily life…
