To compete with digital media, travel publishers turn to social networks, video, and location based services

Lonely Planet, the Australian publisher of travel books, is now turning to new technologies in an effort to compete with digital media. Instead of just adapting its travel guides for the iPhone, the company has made all of its content searchable, and added embedded maps.
