One of the biggest stars of the contemporary design world, industrial and interior designer Marcel Wanders has collaborated with the world’s leading brands over a multitude of industries
The mission statement on world-renowned Dutch industrial designer Marcel Wanders’ website, often quoted by the man himself, reads “Here to create an environment of love, live with passion, and make our most exciting dreams come true”.
The designer is known for his vibrant personality; his work, which spans a plethora of industries and collaborations with leading brands, has received wide and enthusiastic acclaim; and his studio has been described as “one of the most inspiring powerhouses of multi-disciplinary design active today.” Both winner and juror of national and international design awards, Wanders has lectured at the world’s foremost design academies and commandeered prime space in every serious design magazine.
His recent accolades include the Visionary! Award from the Museum of Arts and Design in 2007 — Identity (ae) named him amongst the top 50 design icons of 2007, and he received the Elle Decoration International Design Award for Designer of the Year 2005/2006. Wanders was also guest editor for the International Design Yearbook 2005. The young Dutchman’s latest task is taking over the creative direction for the Morgans Hotel Group from industrial designer Philip Stark.
