Purikura and other such customizable image making sets a precedent for new mobile content platform

Case
PePiCo (Japan)
PePiCo (Personal Picture Content) is a platform developed by our friends at Cybermedia Japan that allows users to take photos and create personalized content. Visitors to PePiCo can make e-cards, wallpapers, and games that feature the subject of the uploaded photo in a funny story/scene that can then be passed along to friends. The PePiCo engine, just debuted, can combine pictures, text, and other content instantly from a mobile phone, but also work with PCs and other web-enabled devices.
Trend Impact
The standardized nature of the Japanese mobile market allows for various content platforms to be accessible much more widely than in markets such as the US — the PePiCo service is advertisement driven, and therefore free for users.
