The new annual mobile barcamp, MobileCampNYC3, was held on November 15th, 2008 at the Microsoft offices in Manhattan. CScout’s Ray Cha collaborated with Sandy Fershee and Kim Mingo of mobile experience design firm Frank First. In the spirit of “user-generated conference” of barcamp, they moved away from the traditional conference presentation format. The session offered attendees a chance roll up their sleeves and design a mobile solution for the “social marketplace.”

The rest of the day was spent listening, discussing, and meeting mobile entrepreneurs, developers, designers, and enthusiasts. Ian Spalter from Creative Director of Emerging Platforms Group at R/GA presented on the Future of Mobile. Dennis Crowley, founder of dodgeball.com, lead a discussion on mobile location based services.
