Trend Description:
Spa Tourism has come a long way. And now it is not only the spa itself anymore, which draws travelers. Certain destinations and traveler zones like hotels, and airports add spa-facilities as luxurious update for their customers. The next generation spa is moving directly into the guest room. Hotel-room Spa
Spa rooms in hotels offer a variety of pampering features. The bath might be equipped with steam showers, a sauna ,or color-therapy tubs. Other possible amenities massage tables and other incorporated treatment-furniture, or even workout equipment. Some hotels offering spa-oriented rooms are the Royal Palms Ressort and Spa in Phoenix, the US Grant in San Diego, and the Mandarin Oriental in Miami. Hyatt Hotels and Resorts plans to incorporate spa-rooms in all new Park Hyatts and at some Grand Hyatt Hotels. Next Spring the Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirrage in California will open with 18 spa suites with private access to the spa and an outdoor yoga practice space.

Airport Spas
XpresSpa operates exclusively at airports. Aiming to offer stressed out travelers some peace and tranquility while they have to wait for the flight, Xpress Spa can be found at airports in New York, Philadelphia, Dallas, Cancun, Pittsburg and Raleigh-Durham. At JFK, NY, Xpress Spas was so successful, that it can be found now at 3 different terminals, two more are under constructions. San Fracisco and Houston will follow as well as some European Airports like Munich and Amsterdam. Offered service include sinus and stress relief massages, reflexology, full body massages but also manicures, pedicures and waxing. But Xpress Spa is not the only company offering spa services at airports now. Other examples are the OraOxygen oxygen bar at Metro Airport in Detroit; and a Molton Brown spa in the British Airways Terraces Lounge at JFK.

Trend Impact:
Todays consumers are getting more and more aware about the importance of a healthy lifestyle, but at the same time have less time to work out or relax. Frequent travellers are most affected by this western progression of livestyle, which demands a lot from peoples mind and body. Spa rooms and locations in hotels and at airports target towards these groups, which usually has no time but some money to spare. Spa tourism is a very promising business model with lots of options.
