Solar cell technology is being integrated into fashion accessories and clothing in new and creative ways.
In line with the rising popularity of eco-consciousness fashion designers are beginning to integrate solar technology into wearable designs. From items that have practical uses, to others which are more aesthetically pleasing, these designs are changing the way consumers look at fashion.

The product measures a mere 50mm x 200mm x 3mm adding to its versatility, embedding easily to any textile, be it an anorak or a baseball cap, a backpack or even a bathing suit. The solar cell’s size can be personalized, and even the ground color can be changed to meet user’s needs.
SolarShopper

Designed by Andreas Weber, and coming in a variety of styles, materials and colors the bags boast flexible, durable, lightweight and shadow tolerant technical features.
Solar JKT

Introduced at Italy’s Pitti Uomo couture fashion show in June, the Solar JKT by Ermenegildo Zegna, uses German solar cell technology to collect and store enough power to charge personal gadgets such as mp3 players or cell phones. The solar modules, which are built into the neckline of the jackets uses the iSolarX technology developed by Interactive Wear AG in cooperation with SOLARC AG. The sporty jacket is aimed at male luxury goods consumers who are more apt to purchase niche products.
We Will Become Silhouettes

Elena Corchero is the creative genius behind the “We Will Become Silhouettes†collection, an array of fashion accessories that have electronic components such as organic solar cells, resistors and LEDS built into them. These stylish accessories, ornate collars, fans, and parasols as style examples, are then wearable or usable during the day and applicable as decorative light displays indoors. Ms. Corchero’s designs were created with female customers in mind, in response to the prevalence of sporty wearable technology designs for men on the market.

2007 is the year of environmentally friendly products. With the success of Live Earth and other “go green†campaigns pushing more and more “global awareness†these products are being introduced to the market at just the right time.
