More and more celebrities are getting involved in the hotel- and hospitality industry, by opening their own – mostly very individualized - restaurants, bars, or motels.

There are lots of famous places in New York, famous for the scene, their interior, their food – but the number of places becoming famous because of their owner is growing. More and more celebrities tend to invest in the hotel- and hospitality industry. Although most of the stars are not immediately visible, the fans can feel their aura. In fact, most of the places are based on the stars personal idea of the perfect place - hospitality celebrity-style.
Cases:
Teany: Moby
Moby’s downtown eatery Teany is a vegetarian bistro in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Most dishes are very affordable and cost around US$ 10. Another speciality is the eclectic tea-menue. The décor is modern and features a lime-green, white and yellow color scheme. There is a rule that the staff is not supposed to play Moby’s music. But Moby, who bartended at a place in Connecticut when he was younger, actually can be seen here.

Trend Impact:
So far, name branding was known as a strategy for big companies which used the name of the famous to market new products. Celebrities and stars tend to influence the style and taste of their followers. Now, celebrities are making use of this by themselves. First, they created clothing lines and perfumes, now they are creating their own spaces - so far mainly in the hotel and catering industry. But, maybe soon we will be able to move into some celebrity’s gated community or condominium.
