Magnetic Paint

Now you can turn your wall into a magnet-sticking surface. It’s not magic, but it is fun. So-called Magnetic Paint contains microscopic particles with metallic properties which will make any surface painted with it attractive to magnets. That means magnets will stick on the wall like they stick on the fridge or other steel surfaces.

You just have to apply magnetic paint on your wall, the more coats, the better the result. So far the magnetic paint just comes in a dull grey, but luckily it works perfectly when covered with any other paint.

The possibilities seem to be endless: wall-sized notice boards at home or in the office, fun play-walls in the children’s room, even furniture can be turned into magical magnetic helpers. The French designer Nicolas Triboulot has even designed a full nomadic house called Modul’air which uses magnetic paint in various combinations, for example to magnetize furniture and as elements of decoration.

Next to the original magnetic paint which comes in different brands, there are also universal additives on the market which turn any paint into magnetic paint. 25 square feet of magnetic paint wall (one coat) will approximately cost US$ 30. Of course the magnetic receptive paint is lead free and safe to use. It is also easy to clean with soapy water.
