Finally: No more wires, cables, or looking for the right adapter. With Splashpower, a wireless power solution, mobile phones and other portable devices can be recharged by simply dropping them onto this mousepad-sized pad called SplashPad. The universal wireless charging platform is portable and can be powered by any electric outlet. It charges as many devices as fit on the charging base.
To receive wireless power from the SplashPad the devices have to be equipped with a SplashModule. This thin receiver can be customized to the shape, size and power requirements of the device. The SplashPad itself can easily be integrated into cars, desks, coffee tables or airplane tables.

Splashpower is based on electromagnetic induction, a technology that uses inductive coupling as a means of power transfer. The SplashPad generates an electromagnetic field which is picked up by a SplashModule converting the field into usable power supplied to the battery of the device to be recharged.
If everything works according to schedule, Splashpower will be on the market by the end of the year. The two inventors, Lily Cheng and James Hay, both engineering graduates of Cambridge University, are already working with major mobile phone and portable device manufacturers. Splashpower also won the Red Herring Top 100 Innovator Award.
