Yamaha has created a special iPod-edition of its EC-02 electric scooter. It features a docking area for a fourth-generation iPod in front of the seat, built-in stereo speakers on the sides, an amplifier, and an extra battery. The Apple-wired remote that’s molded into a compartment on the right handlebar is right within thumb’s reach.

The EC-02 electric scooter is an eco-friendly electric bike which runs at a speed of about 30kmh and can go about 40 km per charge. It takes about 6 hours to recharge this hip two-wheeler, which also has 30% recyclable parts.

Above all, the EC-02 looks like it’s made for the iPod crowd. Fans are enthusiastic: “One day In the future you’ll be able to take the entire family on vacation in a 6 wheeled iPod Photo! We shall explore the uncharted depths of the ocean in a custom one man iPod Mini or even, dare I say, one day land an iPod on THE MOON!”

With a weight of 47 kg and measurements of 935 x 620 x 1,385mm it is small enough to pack into the back of your car. The bike is priced at 209,790 yen or US$1,947, and will be available in Japan by the end of April. Whether Yamaha’s iPod bike will hit the road in Europe is not known at this point.
