Gaby Darbyshire is Director of Business Development at Gawker Media, the publisher of ten blog titles including the popular and accalaimed Gawker.com, Gizmodo.com and Wonkette.com. Gaby has been involved in the internet world since moving to San Francisco from London in 1999; initially she did strategy and legal affairs for eGroups (now Yahoo!Groups) and subsequently was Director of Strategy with 4charity.com, a provider of custom technology services to the non-profit industry. In a short break from the web, she helped launch a new global wine brand, Oriel Wines, but is now firnly back at the juncture of media and technology. Prior to catching the internet bug, Gaby was a barrister in London and a management consultant advising Fortune 500 clients in the high tech and financial services industries. She holds a MA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University and a law degree from City University, and is a member of the Bar of England and Wales.

Loic Le Meur is the Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Europe for Six Apart, a leading producer of Internet publishing tools. Loïc, a well known French Entrepreneur, is also the founder and CEO of Ublog, one of Europe’s leading blogging tools. Previously, he was the founder and CEO of several companies in France, including Tekora, a website publisher for small businesses, RapidSite France, the first and soon the number one small business shared web hosting company in France, and B2L, one of the first Web agencies in France with clients including Chanel, 20th Century Fox, Mars and more. Loïc is also an advisory board member of the World Economic Forum, and a well-known speaker on future business in Europe. He was graduated in 1996 from the French Business School HEC.

Loic’s speech will be about the following topics: Weblogging’s adoption by the mass market is changing the way webloggers communicate, who they communicate with, and the way that weblog tools are being created. Furthermore Loic will speak about his experiences in Politcal Blogging in France.

Thomas N. Burg has engaged with the internet and the World Wide Web since 1994. The emergence of the first web-browser turned him from a medical historian and German philologist into an information architect. Since 1997 he has headed the Center for New Media at the Danube University Krems. As the managing director he is responsible for the entire teaching, consulting and research agendas. The specific interest of the Center for New Media is the provision of post-graduate programs in the field of New Media. Thomas N. Burg’s main field of research is Social Software and advanced Webpublishing especially in the context of individual-centered knowledge-management.
He is the inventor of BlogTalk the first international conference on Weblogs and a consultant for the building of virtual organisations in corporate or learning contexts. Only recently he founded the Social Software Lab (an international initiative in the field of social computing). He is currently working on a blog project for internal communication within companies. His speech will be about Corporate Blogging and Knowledge Sharing.

Charlie Schick leads the global marketing and sales team for Nokia Lifeblog, a multimedia application for smartphones and PCs. His career at Nokia also included launching the Series 60 Platform, orchestrating joint marketing activities with Series 60 licensees, and promoting mobile Internet solutions to service providers. In addition to having written numerous articles for online and print telecom publications, he has written various research papers in leading journals and co-authored a book on advanced phone systems. He has a graduate degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
His speech will be about the potential of mobile blogging.

Nico Lumma is with the company “New Media Management GmbH” in Hamburg. He is one of the linchpins of the known Weblog-environment “blogg.de”.He runs his own Weblog named “lummaland”.
